Spooky Good Fun!

Are you ready for some spooky good fun?  Well I am!
Take a look at what I made using Altered Pages products and fun Halloween wooden shapes from Foundations Decor.
I started with this spunky Foundation Decor's wooden letter kit
Due to the quality of the laser cut wood I didn't need to worry about any prepping the surface or sanding.  I was able to just start painting.  Oh, and the piece measures approximately 6.5 inches tall and 26 inches long.  So, it is a very good size.
I decided on my color scheme and added different shades of purple, orange, black and white acrylic paint.  I only needed to add this to the sides and backs, but not the front.  That will be covered in paper.
One of the paints I used is Prima Alchemy acrylic paint in Ginger Magic.  LOVE IT!
In the photo below I attempted to capture the amazing sparkle of this Ginger Magic.  This is easily one of my new favorite paints. Altered Pages also carries it in Dragon Eye!  This is not your mama's metalic paint!
It may seem like I skipped a few steps in my next photo, but really the rest of this project is just easy peasy.
I picked out my coordinated papers,  I used the purple option of this Halloween paper pack.   I traced the paper out using the wood shape as my template, fussy cut it out and then adhered the paper to the wood using Tacky Glue
In thes picture below I am showing you the difference between the letters to the back and the "Y" in the foreground.  The letters to the back have been outlined in black paint.  The Y has yet to be outlined.  I applied the black around the edges of all pieces just using my finger.  Finger painting is just the best method for this IMHO.
And, here we have the finished project.  I love that the "o's" are actually little monster shapes.  It is just a little something fun and different.  The additional pieces for the eyes and mouths were painted using the same paints and adhered using Tacky Glue.
I may add more embellishments to this, but I am not sold yet, so I am going to live with it for a while and see what I think in a week or so.  Maybe some cup chain...spiders...gems...we will see...

Thanks for hanging out with me today, friends.

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
