Sundays in Arizona from Jean

Another week gone by and many things accomplished.   We had a grand Blog Hop, thanks to Peg Rounds and Leslie-Rahye for organizing it.   We do have prizes to announce after the HOP closes today.  Make sure you hopped and followed the directions to WIN.

I hope your week was fruitful and enjoyable!  We are finally under 100 degrees in AZ,  HURRAY!   Now it's feeling like fall, funny that the 90's bring thoughts of hot chocolate!!!

Keeping with the Going Pink for October theme, I want to share some things with you.     In October we see so much about Breast Cancer in the media that sometimes I am concerned we become overly saturated with it all.    All those faces, wearing pink, pink ribbons, pink balloons, even the NFL wears pink.  THE FACT IS....
1 in 8 will be diagnosed.

In my family there is NO ignoring BC.

This is my Grandmother, Stella and Me.  Nunny, as we called her, came to America as a young child.  She always said, clean your plate, there are people starving in the world!   She got Breast Cancer in the early 1960's and passed away at age 53.
She was a stunning beauty!

Below is my Great Aunt and Godmother Pauline, she was diagnosed in the 1970's and passed away at age 65.

This photo is me and my Mom, isn't she Movie Star beautiful!    She was diagnosed in 1987 (age 57) and I flew home for what, to my experience, would potentially be the last time I might see her.   WELL, she is FINE and Dandy, still going strong and proof that self exams work.

This is not the end of the story, I will add more next Sunday, stay tuned AND PLEASE DO YOUR SELF EXAMS.

PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR BODY -
BE YOUR OWN BEST FRIEND!

Handy Tip for Artists, Recyclers and Neat Freaks! I have a follow-up to the Citra-Sol method for creating fabulous background pages and collages.   I bought a big bag of navel oranges and realized I had the ingredients to make my own solvent!   Simply take a clean glass jar, peel the rind from the oranges and place all the rind/peels, without the pulp (tangerines, oranges, navels) into the jar.   Pour enough vinegar over the peels to cover them.    Allow the jar to sit for a week or two and VOILA!     You have made your own solvent for literally pennies.    You will notice the liquid getting a bit thicker than the plain vinegar and it does not smell bad!!! I now have a  HUGE jar on the window sill!       Be careful and only use this after testing on a safe spot.
