We are all Kids after all......
AlteredPages is about ART, OK we know that. AlteredPages is also about helping other artists grow and mature and gain confidence. We want to virtually embrace artists and especially those involved in paper crafting. We are all a little bit of a hoarder, a little bit of a Kid and a little bit a dreamer!
From the time I was a little girl I was very tactile, not knowing what that even meant at the time! I used to go to the local printers shop and he would give me stacks of papers that were leftovers from printing jobs. To me it was a treasure, scraps of different colors and textures, WOW. I bet I'm not the only one like that! I see it with fabrics too, I love fabrics and have tons of pieces for "projects". Whether or not I get to the projects, it still brings me comfort knowing I can hold those fabrics and enjoy the colors and textures.
I have worked with many mediums including paints, metals, clay, papers, inks, charcoal, stamping, collage, assemblage, woodblocks....you name it. The only medium I really dislike is oil, I never could master it and always made a muddy mess of things. I must sadly admit, I am an instant gratification type person, so waiting for oils to dry just frustrated me!
It's OK to be frustrated, to redo and redo again. After all, unless you are a marble sculptor, it really is only a piece of paper or clay or canvas that can be repainted, remolded and re-cut. GO FOR IT!
Find your muse on this lovely summer Sunday and create no matter how good or how great you think you are. We all can push onward and find that crowning achievement in all of us. PLay like a kid and enjoy each moment!

well said! I am definitely a hoarder of those tactile things - paper, fabric, paint, beads, found objects, even trash to re-purpose! I have to get over my fear of actually using my supplies, even if I mess up the project! I'm getting better with experimenting in an art journal, but I need to remember to just PLAY! Thanks for that reminder! :) Becky
